Early 18th century coat and vest.
Early 18th century coat and vest, featuring pleated vents at sides and back, functional pockets and cuffs which button back. Fully lined. Trimmed with imported metallic trims (lower right).

Portrayed here at the A & E promotional event aboard the HMS Rose, which took place in NYC on 4/3/99 for the A & E series on Horatio Hornblower. Worn here by Bob Chandler, who portrays the part of Silverbeard, aka Peter Bludwurthe, quartermaster to Capt. Wm. Kidd, of the pirate re-enactment group, Free Men of the Sea. This group re-enacts the Golden Age of Piracy throughout New England with sword play, pistol, musket and cannon fire.
